About Me
Hello! / ᡥᠣᠵᠣ ᠨᡳᠣ᠉ / lokah su ga? I received my BA in Language Science from the University of California, Irvine in 2022. My research interests span a variety of issues in theoretical syntax, and I pursue these research interests through fieldwork with speakers of under-described and endangered languages of East Asia. I am also invested in the subfield of endangered language documentation.
My journey in linguistics began with a trip to Wulai District in Taipei, Taiwan during my gap year in 2019. In Wulai, I engaged in cultural exchanges with members of the Atayal indigenous group, and these experiences led me to develop a passion for the Atayal culture, their language, and also language as a whole.
Following my time in Taiwan and enrollment at UC Irvine, I pursued quite a few independently-led research projects in theoretical linguistics (check out my research page) and quite a handful of documentation initiatives involving linguistic fieldwork (check out page for documentation). Now applying to PhD programs, I am excited to pursue my passions, especially in theoretical syntax and fieldwork, to the graduate setting and beyond.
